I am super excited because I am going to be participating in an ART SHOW!!! Its been a long time since I’ve put some of my work in a gallery, so I’m feeling a little rusty, but hey, the show is open to all South Florida Artists at no cost, so why not take advantage of the opportunity. Also the show’s title reminded me of a scene in one of my favorite Christian Bale’s films: “American Psycho”, in which he kills Jared Leto with an axe right after they listen to Huey Lewis and the News song “Hip to be square”. Totally random but I love how Bale gets all crazy for his role and Leto now sings!

OK now back to the show: the challenge is to create a piece that is square in size and the subject matter is open. Being a bit obsessed with geometry I think creating something along these lines would make me really happy. I’m not sure what medium I’m going to be using, whether to use color or not, but I need to think this ASAP since I have to create, frame and drop-off my work by February 26, 2112.

The show’s is happening at Bear and Bird Boutique + Gallery and its called “Square Show2: Be There Be Square”. It opens Saturday, March 10th and is on display until April 27th, 2012. There will be an Opening Night Artist Reception on Saturday, March 10, 2012 from 6-10pm.

If any other South Floridian Artist is interested in participating CLICK HERE. I think this is a great opportunity to get your work out there, get back to making stuff and even if you have never done it before, a chance to get your feet wet.

I leave with “Hip to be square” – by Huey Lewis and the News:
